Triumph Is Back – With 5 New Models
Published: November 4 2015 By @Japps
It’s not really “back” - because classics like these, they never went away.
Triumph are the definitive classic motorcycle: they’re iconic, sensuous, sought after, and notoriously hard to maintain. In fact, almost all of us know a guy who has one rotting away in the back of his garage somewhere, right? Well, it might be time to advise “old mate” over there to put his restoration plans in the bin, and push him in the direction of a newer style of Triumph; one with all the looks and feel of an older gentleman, but with the modern technology, street smarts and indefatigable energy of an over sexed student.
Triumph are launching five new models in this range, although they’re more updated than new. First, we’ve got the Street Twin, that comes equipped with a high-torque, eight valve, 899cc parallel twin motor.
Next come the T120 and T120 Black both sporting 1199cc water-cooled engines, and whatever add-ons you want to throw at it. The T120 Black, naturally, is comes in black with a dark brown seat and a few other dark trimmings, for more money, of course.
Finally, the line’s last models are the Thruxton and the Thruxton R. Both machines are powered by the same 1200cc motor as the T120s, but this one offers more powerapparently – those details are hush hush for now – but the tech specs boast a decent 81ftlb of torque at 3,500rpm. The “R” version comes with all kinds of upgrades like Showa forks, Ohlins shocks, Pirelli Diablo Rosso tires and Brembo floating discs. And of course, café racer and tracker kits will be available. Pretty smart eh? Who thought the Brits still had it in them?
